Silent compressor valve replacement - experts needed.

Trying to replace the main valve on my compressor. Its an Aflatek/clone silent type thing -> https://aflatek.co.uk/products/aflatek-silent-pro100-3-compressor?variant=34962059755654

You'll notice it doesn't seem to have a differential tube... and there lies my problem, all I can find the differential tube type.

I need a valve that will cut in at 80PSI and cutt off at 110 - 115 (ish) because it powers the pnuematic tool changer carousels on my CNC gear.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It was suggested there that, if you wanted a regulated pressure, then there were commonly available parts that would do exactly that, called regulators.

You were asked why you thought you needed somthing else. You didn't reply, but are now asking the same question somwhere else.


Again (as you were told a number of times by different people) if you need a set pressure for your tool changer, all you need is a pnumatic regulator.

If this is unsuitable for you, can you PLEASE take the time to explain why, rather than just joining another forum and asking the same question?

Strange - I am not even on facebook, I haven't been since I deleted my account over 10 years ago. With that in mind, how could I consider advice on Facebook????

Well yes, but arent they all regulators of a type? Where would I get a regulator without the diff pipe?

If you search for compressor regulator you don't get any hits for the valve type thing, but only the screw type pressure adjusters.

Edit: I am talking about the electric valve with the yellow sticker on it. Not the pressure control below it.

Search eBay for compressor pressure switch. They're generic, cuts power to motor once pressure passes hi_set (100psi) then cuts in again once below low_set (60psi).

These are not suitable as mine does not use a differential tube to actuate the switch. As I mentioned in the first post : "You'll notice it doesn't seem to have a differential tube... and there lies my problem, all I can find the differential tube type."

None of the standard pressure switches use the small tube to activate the switch. The tube is there to remove/vent the air from the pipe between the compressor pump and the non return valve mounted on the receiver to allow the motor to start at a reduced load. The picture of the one on the webpage you linked to seemed to show a small hose connection as well. The pressure on these switches is sensed through the much larger connection point below the spring

Yep - mine has none of that. It is connected at the bottom with ZERO other connections. The theres a 240AC going in and a 240AC going out to the separate motors. The motors have their own connection to the cylinder and handle their own air relief through an IC and solenoids.

I actually rang a major air compressor company in the UK and they were the ones that told me that the small tube is a differential and is part of the actuating of the valve?????

These pics show exactly what I have. The red arrow shows the ONLY air connection to the switch and there are no other holes, used or unused on the switch device. The other pic shows the motors connection.

I have a 3 phase compressor that the small pipe operates as I’ve described above. I also had a single phase compressor that operated the same. I don’t know the exact operation of your compressor but don’t see why a standard switch wouldn’t work as vent port isn’t connected to the main pressure connection. You would need to determine the size of the thread to get one that would fit. Does the switch currently have any controls on it?

The controls are an on/off lever on the other side of the switch in the picture. Inside there are two adjustment screws. One for range adjustment... e.g. adjusts cut in and cut out together. The other adjusts just top end cut out.

However, it doesn't matter how I set it, it always cuts in at about 72PSI. This is too low, as I need a minimum of 80 PSI with a range at preferably 80PSI to 110PSI. Hence me wanting to simply replace the switch with a better/working one. This has proved more difficult than expected for such a seemingly simple task.

The thread at the Bottom is 1/4 BSP (I will double check that actually)

As long as the compressor is capable of achieving 110 psi without overloading the motor then any pressure switch should work just don't connect anything to the vent connection. The cheaper switches may only have a max pressure adjustment and as such may have a limited differential range. What max pressure can you set on the current switch?

I can set approx 120 psi - then the safety valve blows.

So to be clear, I should be able to use a standard compressor switch and just not connect the unloader port?

Yes, a standard pressure switch will work. Its single input goes to the receiver and is the pressure before the regulator in the manifold you have. The pressure switch works by difference to atmosphere and trips a mechanical sprung loaded toggle set using a spring balance. Be aware whether any new switch can set low and high independently.

Yes as long as the increased pressure doesn't result in an motor overloading by exceeding the motor run current.

You may need to find a pressure switch that has a separate differential control rather than the cheaper standard pressure switches that only have the switch off pressure adjustment
