Friend of mine just retired from the fire department and now he is a Realtor. So this is symbolic. Helmet behind him represents FD, sign in front represents future.

Hmmm, realtor - I had to look that up - is it a word used more over in the US or is it just me being ignorant again?

Neat job there Strube and, as Knoba says, a touching gift for a friend in the circumstances - how thick is the wire/rod you have used and how are you joining it?

Realtor is one who sells houses, buildings, etc. We call that "real estate". What do you call that business? I always enjoy learning how our languages differ. I really like the way your towns and villages are named. I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. Almost in the middle of the USA. I wish it had a cooler name like alot of your communities do.

I use 1/4" (I think that is about 6mm) rod mostly, and I use an old Lincoln arc welder with little tiny welding rods for most of the joining. Although I brazed the hammer onto his hand and drilled a hole for the sign. Oh yeah, I migged the sign onto the post. And wimped out and used jeweler's glue (E6000) to attach the helmet. I figure since it ain't structural, I can use whatever it takes, right?

There is a place called Lincoln over here, not far from me, very nice place.

real estate is also used here but we call them agents, normally abreviated to just 'estate agents'.

Yes, they don't have the best reputation as shining examples of humanity in the UK - one tried to rip me off years ago - telling potential buyers my property was sold (when it wasn't) and turning them away with the ulterior motive to have me desperate enough to reduce the price and sell to a mate of his! Clearly, we shouldn't tar them all with the same brush though.

Place names: I like spotting the familiar names of places (i.e. named after UK places) when travelling abroad, particularly when we have been to the USA, Canada and Chile. I guess Lincoln is an example.

That's good going joining that thin rod with arc Strube - very impressive - what thickness are the rods - do you use electrode positive?
