Needed an elbow thing for the screen door on my shop so I did this web. I know it isn't neat and symmetrical. I was going for an old web. Ragged, seen some combat. Then I put a sparkbug (used spark plug), partially wrapped him up and left the web dangling. What happened to the spider?

Hey Strube, looks good!
I've got one a bit like that here. Its made out of the steel rod from inside those "over the radiator" clothes dryers.
Mrs Joe had a habit of putting them over the tops of doors, then forgetting, and trying to shut the doors, which can't be done.
I started from the outside & worked inwards, but ran out and had to buy more (4 for £5 @ Argos) to finish it off. The hardest part was stripping the plastic coating off with a stanley knife.
Some of the ends look a bit sharp, though - if anyone tries to filch your mag-lite they'll get a surprise! I cut the rod up with bolt croppers, so the ends of mine were particularly nasty.
I see you joined some of the rods end-to-end, I had to do that too, as I ran out of useful sized pieces.
If I find a picture, I'll put it on.

I'd like to see a picture of yours! Sounds like you went through alot of work on it. Hope Mrs Joe appreciates it! Hardest part for me was cuz I wanted the kinda ragged look so each cross piece had to be measured, bent and cut, braze, measure,bent and cut, braze, measure, bent and cut, braze...

I had to make some cobwebs a couple of years back, 2m diameter to fit in concrete tubes and be used as security screens. In stainless steel. A total nightmare. They warped to ******y and came out smaller than they started Got them done in the end and they look great.



It was a relief to get them finished.

Wow! That was a job for you! Hardest part on mine was cuz I went for the old beat up look. Each cross piece was measure, bend, cut, braze. Of course I laid out several pieces and anchored them with chunks of steel before brazing. Then the clean up cuz you know how brazing flux is. Fun project though!

This ones only a metre in diameter, but it warped quite a bit too - soon stamped it straight though!

There's a fly too, but it's way out of scale (too large), it's eyes are made from 50mm balls, so it lives out of sight on the hallway wall, so as not to scare the spider!

Oh, go on then, since you ask, fellow "webmasters"...

The crash helmet should help to give an idea of size, legs are 10mm textured or hammered rod of some sort, eyes 50mm balls, the rest are just "bits".

The last web I made serves as an access door/vent to the crawl space under my house.
