silver solder - sourcing and weight

Im trying to source the best price for silver solder rods.

Im seeking 1.5mm x 500mm rods between 40% and 55% silver content.
Does anybody know how many approximately you get in a Kg pack? or know of a source for the best deal?

Try either cup alloys or Blackgates engineering, Reeves 2000 also stock silver solder, it will be the modern cadmium free type. I used silverflo55 for
71/4 loco boiler.

cupalloys seems to be the best so far, if i order 10+ packs of 5.
I am prepared to go for a larger quantity, 0.5kg or 1kg pack if price per rod beats that of cupalloys. The problem there is needing to know how many in a pack

Ive just paid £5.25 per stick 1.5 silverflow , only used 1 stick for the job , bought 4 , it will keep for the next job !

The climatecentre looks like it may be a good price on solder, but it has no tech specs. I may give them a call for some info. If its what I need, maybe we can make an arrangement we can both be happy with

A company whom I do business for will be buying a 250kg pack on Monday. I will get my answer for the number of rods in a pack. |From that I can work out the deal that they get and know the price I am looking to better.

There are 62 rods of sil40 (40% Ag) in a 0.5Kg pack.

What we do in the National Homebrew Club is to organise group buys.

When a lot of people want stuff at a good price ( for example malted grains ) we set up a list, people indicate how many bags they want, when we hit the order number ( in this case 40 sacks = a one tonne pallet ), we ask people to pay in advance, then we order. It arrives and people pick up what they need

That way we get malted grain at about a euro a kilo!

Silver solder buys may be a good thing to order a group buy of.

As a model engineer I know that there are several different grades and thicknesses available but who knows it might work for you if you just pick a couple of grades and 2 thicknesses. May be the supplier will allow a mix and match on the grades/sizes and give a bulk discount on the total order?
