Simple air compressor for light paint work!

Hi all

I am in the process of buying bits and bobs i'll need in order to fix up my old cf2 van (got some good welder advice off here too). I want an air compressors and spray gun. I have looked through some of the threads on here but a lot of the info seems to be based around pretty expensive kit. All I intend to us the compressor/spray gun for is light use to spray epoxy mastic, primer and paint. I wont need it for anything else and will only be using it to patch up small areas at a time. For example under wheel arches. Can anybody suggest a cheep and cheerful system that will do a good job for a low price?

you will probably have to buy a direct drive compressor for a budget price about 6 to 7cfm , cheapish spray guns can be had for £20 to £35 ish will more than likely last ages if u arent going to hammer them

Thats what I like to hear! I don't suppose you could direct me to a good one over the internet somewhere? I wouldn't have a clue (even if I found one) if it was any good. Are there any brands that are reliable, of good quality, etc...

There are some direct drive 3HP on Ebay currently at £175 from Jawel paints I think. That has to be a good deal, when something equivalent from Clarke would be twice that. It is an unknown brand though, so do your research well!

the only thing i will say about wolf is

i believe that they are no more they went bust so parts may be an issue

The clarke one is broken "reaches 8 bar" but still works apparently. I have no clue what that means however? I can imagine the clarke selling for quite a bit though as there are still 5 days left on it.

Any ideas or thoughts on these? If the Wolf lasts a few year and goes for under £100 i would be happy?

i have a small clarke direct drive at work just for checking the van tyres and it isnt too bad i suppose it fell over the cooling fan fell to bits but still runs.
if you are limited by way of cash then just get the best you can afford
