SIP 120 autoplus

Hi,i got this off of fleabay a few weeks back and been meaning to ask you clever folks out there more about it,i'm after the specs on the unit ie min,max amps(guess that would be 120,) ocv etc.
As you can see from the front it has 3 settings min,med,max also a Co2 setting range 1 and 2,whats that all about more gas less gas perhaps
Inside as you can see looks pretty ok with no new wireing mods bit of dust here and there,also from what i read from a post here before theres a bit of cardboard acting like a brake to stop the reel from spinning,was this a problem?
I'm looking for some spares to,it needs a new gas shroud know where i can get one?
New earth clamp has been ordered.
Plugged her in today,she fired up with the useual noises,wire feed was good and smoothed at all speeds,struck a quick arc on low settings that worked ok.
The gas reg looks rather old can anyone tell if its ok?
Just one last thing before i send you all asleep,the feeder roller how the hell does it come off to turn it round for different wire,ie 0.6 0.8,it just wont budge.

Two questions

Where has the shroud gone & also where has the smoothing cap gone?

I had an older one & it had a large capacitor fitted inside.

Oh & mine had a rotary dial for the wire feed & one for the power too.

There was no shroud with it,the seller did say it didnt have one.
I dont know anything about any large capacitor,1st time i've ever had one of these, i've also seen one or two with different dials on,again i'm clueless reason why i'm asking for some advice i suppose.

Dont suppose anyone has an old manual for one of these.............no?

I wouldn't say that -- it works
Shrouds are cheap and are a consumable item

Then get some gas and try it out

Noooooo, good old welder. I have the SIP Autoplus 180, its much the same design. The range switch is like a high and low for the voltage, so you have 6 voltage settings (dunno why its marked co2). The upper control knob is the wire feed speed.
The roller is held on the spindle with a grub screw, if you want to change the groove size you need an allen key to undo it then reverse the roller.
The tension screw in the centre of the wire reel spindle is turned clockwise to offer resistance on the wire reel to prevent over-run, like you say the cardboard has probably been a make-shift brake, you dont need it, ditch the cardboard.
Shrouds and nozzles are easy to acquire.
The manual I have only covers the SIP Autoplus 210, the 180 and the 150 mig welders, sorry.

Thank you gentleman for your inputs,have gas shrouds now on order,i have a Co2 bottle but that gas reg in pic wont fit,so need to get that sorted once everything is up and running i'll come back to you with results and more likely with more questions,lol

Any idea what what the lowest amp is in your manual?

I had an Autoplus 130 for a few years and it worked fine for what I was doing. The feed roller had an Allen head grub screw to hold it to the drive to change from .6 to .8 wire. Mine had a problem when I first bought it but it was repaired under warranty, a transistor on the feed control board and after that it was fine.

Cheers ped,i found the grub screw,lets say i was looking in the wrong place(dont ask,doh lol).
I've taken another look at the gas shroud prob,as you can see from the pic its a screw on type,thing is looking at the gun itself it say type 14 all i can find is MB15 shrouds,they look as if they'd fit but not really 100% sure,any ideas?
Gues by looking at the spring,that might need replaceing to?
Just one last thing,that gas reg i have,well today just connected it up to see if its working,turned on the gas and the needle shot str8 to 30psi 2 bar,its now stuck there,guess its knackered,yes no?

Sorry, unsure what you mean. My manual covers the 210, 180 and 150amp Autoplus mig welders.
You're regulator may be ok. Loosen the nut that fixes it to the cylinder to release the pressure, then retighten. Turn the regulater adjuster anti-clockwise until until no resistance is felt, (infact unscrewing it till it comes out of the regulater will do no harm, just insert it a complete turn again). Turn on the welder, undo the wire feed roller tensioner, turn on the gas, click the torch trigger, turn the regulater adjuster clockwise untill you hear a soft hiss of gas coming from the torch, and leave the regulator adjuster there. It will be 'set' near enough for some test welds at that and you can ignore the pressure guage.

I hope you didn't order the ones on that page. I see only Clarke ones - looks like the SIP spares haven't been added yet. Clarke shrouds won't fit current SIPs (they're too long). I don't know whether earlier SIPs like yours had a different shroud.
