My compressor was new about 2 years ago. I had it in storage in this time and never used it. I set it up and it would sound like motor was under powered for about a min then went grand. This happen about 10 times that I have turned it on. This morning I went to turn it on and the motor just hummmm and no movement. Didn't blow safe switch. Any ideas what would be wrong??

Maybe the capacitors

Is that white or blue or both??

Make sure the belt is tight.

when you switch on the motor hummm's it heats uo very quick. Motor doesn't turn.

Can you turn the flywheel by hand (with the mains disconnected just in case).

Yes fly wheel can turn by hand. If it was the Capacitor would the motor hummm??

Take the belt off and see if the motor runs.

had this with mine and it turned out to be the start cap (usually black).

Same here on a Sealey portable unit. Quick trip to RS and a new Cap and sorted.

Took belt off. Motor will still humm until you give a pully a quick turn with hand and away she goes. When stopped a small bit of smoke rises out of the top of the motor. Does this sound like cap????
