SIP AS3/50 Pressure switch problem

Hi people,

My AS3/50 (twin cylinder, 3hp, belt drive, single phase) developed a fault today - just after I'd put paint in the gun

When you first turn it on it's hunky dory, use the air, then when the motor tries to kick in again it fails and blows the 13amp fuse.
I turned the compressor switch off and it hisses big time ie the valve doesn't shut on the switch (the one fed by the 5mm hose from the cylinder outlet).

I emptied the tank, switched back on and all's well - until you empty the air down to the "kick in" pressure. Motor tries to start but fails & will blow plug fuse.

Yes I know it's meant to be a 16amp socket, but I've been using it like this for years and the switch has never done a continuous hiss. Just the brief one when she's up to pressure.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted

Sounds like your non return valve on the receiver is leaking.

im with eil on this one the delivery pipe has pressure in it putting too much strain on the motor hence the fuse going strip down non return valve on air cylinder you will find it at the end of the delivery pipe MAKE SURE THERE IS NO PRESSURE LEFT IN THE CYLINDER

Right, coming off the cylinder:
Copper pipe into a "T" - one side of this goes into the tank, the other into the small plastic tube that runs off to the switch.
I have pulled off this tube and blown into it...air out of the switch.

Sussed it - thanks guys.
Blew down the T piece and was blowing into the tank/cylinder.
Undid the end cap on the T. There was a bit of copper pipe swarf in it, approx 15 x 3mm. WTF - I've had the comp for 5 years!
