SIP Hurricane Capacitor

Help!!

Need a bit of help Identifying the capacitor UF rating as the capacitor has blown!! I have googled it to death and found nothing SIP have discontinued the part so I'm hoping that someone might have the same model and can whip the cover off and let me know or failing that someone who knows what it should be.

Really don't want to buy a new compressor...

Yes, also needs to be 450v rated. Physical size may be slightly different on a replacement

What hp or kw is the motor? I've a couple of direct drive compressors & I think they have 45 or 50uf capacitors.

Its a 2hp motor 240v 50Hz and thats all thats written on it.

Is a 25uf the right size capacitor for this motor? Bloody annoying half the writing has come off the old one!!

Yes, also needs to be 450v rated. Physical size may be slightly different on a replacement

Exact capacitance value is not that critical just needs to be in the ball park, you could go higher but risk it being physically too big.

Add to that - it looks like it's a capacitor-run motor, be sure to get a RUN rated capacitor as a start cap' will do a chaff-dispenser impression if used in the wrong place.
If it's the run capacitor the 25 uf is important-ish, as it sets the phase shift for the second winding, too small and it'll have trouble starting, too high and it'll overheat starting at the windings.

I have the smaller 1.5 hp airmate 21525, I’ve just checked what cap is fitted to that and it’s a 16uf one


As yours is a little larger I would have thought 25uf would have been the correct one, and the one I linked to earlier would be suitable
