Hi All
New welder here, I'm currently doing a welding course at Lackham college which is helping and been getting some practice in with the MIGs and the ARC's there but was wondering if you could help me with some simple questions about my particular welder.
I have a SIP Ideal 180, it's about 15 years old I think, got 0.8mm wire in it and I just want to know more about the settings.
I spoke to someone at SIP who sent me some instructions which are.... a bit crap.
The instructions point out the power, the fine adustment and the coarse adjustment, thanks for that, these are all named under the dials themselves so I could figure that out, however, when it come to the other dials they are all grouped together under 'Control Panel' and there is no further mention of them of what effects they have when you turn them up or down.
I think the machine can do continuous welding, pulse welding and spot welding, can you please shed some light on these settings and what they may mean and if they are only in use depending on the welding type selected (Continuous, pulse, spot)
Here's the first couple of dials:
So the top one is the welding type but which is which? from A on the left, B in the middle and C on the right which is continuous, which pulse, which spot?
And the next one down is wire speed, I'm ok with that one
The next couple of dials:
The welding time and pause time I am GUESSING mean, in seconds, when I select 'pulse weld' which ever setting that is, I press the trigger and it will weld for {weld time selected} and then wait for {pause time selected} until welding again for {weld time selected} and so on until I let go of the trigger? Which would be good for thin metal I think
And perhaps if I set it to 'Spot weld', which ever setting that is, I press the trigger and it will weld for {weld time selected} but then I let go of the trigger, does that sound right?
And the burn back I have read somewhere else on here, I can look again for that one.
Many thanks for any help.
