sip t3 150 compressor

hello just got a new comp sip t3 150, is it normal on start up for it to bleed from the pressure control valve, and the brass nut with a hole and pin in it on the cylinder head.the comp reaches aprox 1.5 bar at this point the bleeding stops and everything pumps up normal.i think i know it has to circulate and bleed to atmos but it just seemed along time.i could phone the help line but its closed until tuesday and i may not sleep at night

cant guarantee on your model m8, but i have owned a few compressors, and they all do this on start up

thanks for your reply i've only had small compressors before and they didn't do this amount of "bleeding"during start up

Sounds like you have the same compressor as I have. Mine does the same. I never thought it was a problem although it does seem to bleed for longer than I thought should be necessary.

I don't know whether they all come with a silly tiny regulator that can barely pass wind but I found I needed to fit a proper regulator (a Clarke one from Machine Mart) to run some tools that consumed a lot of air. A bit annoying when the compressor and tank can deliver plenty and are restricted by an inadequate regulator. I know someone else on here (Welderpaul?) had the same problem with his SIP.

Yes it should - Some compressors have a seperate valve to bleed off, some have this function combined with the valve that dumps the pressure from the pump outlet pipe when the compressor stops.

It's function is to allow the motor to get up to speed before it comes under load.

Thanks for you're reply and the info on the regulator i will be using the compressor to work on a land rover some of the bolts look like they've been at the bottom of the sea so i imagine i'll be using a fare bit of air.

I've got a 100l SIP compressor, haven't used it in aggges though as my brother broke the top part of the regulator, ripping the nob off
Was looking round to try and get a replacment part but after this thread maybe I'll got and get a whole new reg? Cannae really say I've thought the reg was underpowered, but I've nothing to really compare it to
I did find it hard to get any decent amount of pressure out of it though, was always dipping down a lot

I chucked the crappy reg that came on my Clarke compressor, and also the stop valve they fit - a serious restriction.

definitely worth getting a decent regulator.
