Siting tank outside ?

I've got a large Ingersol Rand compressor (ex industrial that I'm converting to single phase). The tank is big ( could be 150 ltrs ?) and the motor / pump is on a seperate frame bolted to the tank. Shortage of space in my garage means I'd been considering making it into a vertical cylinder format then had another thought - why not site the actual tank outside but keeping pump, motor, valves, electrics etc inside After all LPG tanks are outside and have pressurised contents. Accepted it's need a decent coat of paint but is there any reason why not ? I'm thinking a small, say, 25ltr tank inside for pressure switch etc and the large tank fillable via a valve so if just small volumes of air needed then only the 25ltr tank filled.

Thoughts ?

Can't see why not but for the effort why not just stick a little shed type thing over top and put whole thing outside

I've got my larger tank outside, and a ball valve to fill it as required like you suggest.

You will get condensation any way. Fit an auto drain to tank

better if u condense the air in the tank outside . fit a water seperator to tank and another at the end of the line near your air tools ect . i use a extra tank on the end of the line for further cooling and collecting moisture

The tank will be sited between the back of the garage and a planned shed so will have a basic roof over, albeit probably open at both ends.

I did get a problem a couple years a go when we had the low temps, The switch/unloader froze on my compressor and it kept pumping till the blow valve went, scared me death..

Mine isn't even outside.

Don't think there is any issues mounting it all outside unless you've got neighbours.

So long as the tank outside is lower or at the same level as what it is now, as you do not want water trapped in the pressure switch and the discharge line.

1" main line-fall per 10’ to ensure condensate drainage to a drain leg.
Inverted “J” connection off the main line to keep condensate and crud out of the connection drops.
Flexible hose between the compressor and the hard-line. The hose prevents hard-line breakage due to vibration.
90 degree Ball valves at compressor, drain leg close to compressor + one at the far end of the system.
We had both indoor ( in warm shop) & outdoor receivers the out door one always had more water even though lower pressure, remember more pressure more water, cant remember optimum for water separation something like 130psi ? on the bigger system we had coolers to help with moisture extraction.
