Slideway Covers/Bellows

Looking for some Slideway cover/bellows for a lathe.

Such as the one below. From what I have found so far they are far from cheap, so I think I'm going to make them myself. has anyone done this before? What material did you use? And how is it holding up to hot swarf

why do you want them? the lathes i have used have never had them and the swarf just falls of the end when the slider moves. one thing about those that occures to me is they might hold coolent behind them that could rust the slider

i've used Beakbane before for protection from weld spatter, good quality kit.

I'm rebuilding a Harrison M300. I've just spent 700quid +VAT to have it totally reground and hand scraped in, including Marlon anti friction.

So with that in mind I'd like to look after it.

i have been looking for somethin similar for my mill, didnt want to spend a fortune but have found nothin useful as yet.
