wow proper job that! This sounds really good but i think i'll save that for when i extend the garage later on this year, get it all done at once. Might get a new roof when i do it...To save a lot of effort but maybe a little costly how about top skinning the whole roof and side edge with Kingspan wriggly tin sprayed with 150 mm insulation that can be sealed along all edges then screw down with long TEC type screws to the joists . That would leave the inside full of places to add hooks in the joist .
I'd also seal the floor and a couple of feet up the walls to reduce condensation from ground moisture .
Go a bit further slip a cls 44x35 ( ???) frame all round the garage , between it and the walls add a thickness of tar paper as a vapour barrier then infill the frame with fibreglass. insulation batts after adding wiring for all desired / planned power points and electrical fittings . Then plaster board over the insulated frame roller on a one coat finish and add a skirting board .
T'is what I did to the garage at my previous home plus adding a quality 40 mm floor screed & floor boards . When it came to sell the place it increased the value by about 10 K and was a major factor in us getting our full asking price at the second viewing .

exactly this, it's proper convenient. i don't really have much room, i might do the big drum method eventually when i get more room but this will do me for nowI use the same, delivered to the door in 5 litre bottles
Yes diesel and bigger drums of kero are cheaper but I'm happy to pay for the convenience
A bigger drum would mean a pump and maybe a smaller container, plus somewhere to keep it
Putting diesel in means driving to get it, then the same issues as a bigger drum
The price per litre is not the only factor
i do have a 20L jerry can and didn't know petrol stations sold kerosene so will look into that..That's an expensive way to buy Kerosene.
Do any forecourts near you sell Kerosene? It's worth looking out for, many do and should be around 80p per litre at the pump. Get yourself a large 20L metal jerry can and works out well. Or even red diesel if you can find it, heater will run hotter on that. I found local places in NI that still offer red diesel at the pump. Dearer though.
Fuel stations serving rural communities are more likely to sell kerosene, and red diesel, than those in the centre of town.i do have a 20L jerry can and didn't know petrol stations sold kerosene so will look into that..
Was the diesel heater under there as wellI lost a magnetic LED inspection lamp for about 3 years. I found still attached to the underside of the front wing of my old Morris. Done a good few hundred miles under there, still worked after a good charge!
I guess this muppet put that in the wrong thread!!!Was the diesel heater under there as well
