Snakes!

Friend of mine's wife hates (is terrified by) snakes so she told him to kill them. He got three last spring. I wanted to commemorate this feat...

I noticed the proportion problem after I painted it and stepped back. I think I made the hands too big and that threw the rest out of proportion. Oh well, he and his wife love it. And I can't seem to get people to like snakes no matter how much I explain their place in nature. They just throw their hands up and say things like "Yikes! A snake! Kill it!" Suburbia...

This brings back memories, making these figurines was what got me into sculpture, I love them!!

I'm with you, man. None the less, it seems there are alot of people who get all panicky at the sight of a snake or a spider... My daughter had a pet tarantula for years and when it died, I commemorated it with this:

That was my attempt at the "art" thing. Up to the viewer to envision the spider wherever they want. I know: lame...

Your spider has an elegance about it. No chance on my wife wanting ANY kind of spider in the house. I have to remove even the ones you can barely see. She has spider vision. She can spot them from across the room.

The snakes we typically get around here are pretty small. And my neighbor is a pretty big guy so I wanted to exaggerate the disparity in size.
My wife has zero liking for spiders. Even the ones the size of the period at the end of this sentence.
