hi can sum 1 shed sum light on y my welder is useing so much gas it seems to be letting gas out on the slightest touch of the triger way befor the wire feeds starts gomeing out iv had the torch apart and theres 2 rubber o rings inside thge triger i take it thay are to stop the gas escapein into the switch part of the gun would thay be the course of the gfas comeing out befor the wire feed starts would it be adviserble to get new o rings to stop the gas escapein so early ..... hope my wording makes sence and sorr for my spelling many thanks nic

It's best to have the gas starting before the arc so the arc is shielded from the atmosphere or you will have contaminated weld at the start. What cylinders are you using? The small disposables don't last long anyway.

The way those machines work is exactly as it is working, as you press the trigger it opens the gas valve then the switch makes contact providing power.

you will need to get a new valve and swan neck assembly or convert it to a euro torch.

On mine the black plastic top separated from the brass block and leaked gas. converted to Euro torch and never looked back.

gas does come out first though as you press the trigger then the plunger/valve bitty pushed up against the spring and makes contact with the teminal on the black plastic cover and completes the circuit to operate the arc.
as you saw its all held in place with sponge in the handle.

With the Eurotorch conversion, I am aware (having read your walkthrough post Rik, thanks ) that one installs a gas solenoid in place of the valve in the torch to control shield gas flow. Since I assume that pressing the trigger starts both the gas and the wire feed at the same time, does this mean there is an appreciable gap between wire feed starting and a full shield developing around the weld?

The gas valve operates before the switch makes contact so gas will always flow slightly before the arc starts.
