Snap On / Cebora Turbo Mig 130

Does anyone know whether the wire feed motor is 12v or 24v for these machines as I am working on upgrading my machine? Also any recommendations re replacement / upgrade wire feed assemblies.

Stick a meter (set to DC volts) on the terminals of the feed motor, flip off the feed pressure roller, set to full speed and pull trigger. ,20vDC it should be a 12v motor. <30v but >20v and it should be a 24v.
You might want to consider using a separate psu for the feed motor anyway as most of the smaller migs have poor supply to the motor. See SIP section for details.

I'd be cautious about upgunning the motor alone given the rest of the wire feed is predominantly plastic; is the motor faulty? I had one of these and the feed was fine aside from the rather flawed design.

If you want to change the motor feed put a separate power supply in there to match the new motor then use a power transistor to feed the motor with the signal from the original circuit.


When i modified mine i kept the original wire feed.

It is 24 Volt.

Irrc its a wee transformer and relay. Some of the lark ones use the welding voltage as a power supply

The plastic tensioner has broken - the motor works fine.

Th carried out the separate power supply mod on a SIP I have also - this worked really well except I get a continual wire feed when none of the amp buttons are pressed to select amperage.

I have two of these machines, a Snap on version and a Cebora- the Snap On is really brilliant and can butt weld 0.6mm and up sheet steel with ease. Smooth and controllable. The Cebora is older and I have yet to use due to a broken tensioner.

brilliant tool ,wire tensioner aside,I wouldnt part with mine as its light enough to put in the van,stands me at just pennies compared to inverter,and it welds every bit as good as anything else if you maintain liner etc.

I'm the same, I've thought many times about converting it but then for what I use it for there isn't any point.. so I reckon since 1996 its paid its keep.

I even kept the gas valve and feed motor from an agamig 200 to use, I reckon that weighs nearly as much as the entire Cebora :-)

Its only a matter of time before the wire feed throws its hand in and I'll most likely do the necessary then, trouble is it could turn into an epic project in a pile of bits :-)

I think I will turn a new wire feed tension adjuster on my lathe in brass to see how this works.

Yup , on mine too. Went brittle with age. Ideally I'd like to replace all the plastic parts with metal. Wouldn't know where to start , or even if it's feasable.

didnt want to spend money on mine, bought it second hand 19 years ago, was scared something else would go on it ,so bought a clarke 160tm, the cebora is just lying under the bench.
