hi all,have been reading on here about the problems with the wire feed motor,and the clapper arm on my 130 is now broke.did see a thread on here from samarcopizza,and he fitted a wire feed motor from ebay,the model is,lrs-3855,voltage is dc-12v .the ebay item number is,222727177098 .has any one fitted one of these recently,and have they had any problems with it? they are cheep to buy and the are made in china,not sure to get one,or look for something else,only use the welder if i am working mobile,as its ok to pick up,any help with this please,mick

i managed to rig up a heath robinson fix on my own one, the clapper arm sheared off, so i cut a length of wood the length of the welder and made a small T shaped arm to hold everything in place, worked fine as i was repairing the deck of my ride on mower. the welder for some reason was temperamental to strike up an arc but if you percivered the longer you used it it worked fine,the gas valve used to stick but a spray of dash dandy before use fixed it, probably would have benefited from a new handle/trigger/ nozzle etc ,but was scared that after spending several pounds on it would pack in altogether. under the wifes instructions i purchased a new clarke 160 tm and since i have never used it . Any ideas as to what may be the start up problem guys?

I've owned a cebora turbo mig 130 (snap on/BOC are just badge engineered clones) for approaching 20 years. Whilst in general it's been a reasonably reliable piece of kit, I've always thought the wire feed roller mechanism could have been better designed. I managed to break the pivot off the backplate that the "clapper arm" rotates on, by trying to put too much pressure on the feed roller. Fortunately I was able to source a replacement through a BOC depot but that was some time ago & doubt I'd be so lucky today.
I made up a little metal bracket to support the "free" end of the pivot & prevent it breaking again, effectively as designed it's just cantilevered off the backplate. The metal support means ithe pivot is now supported at both ends, preventing a bending moment where the pivot joins the backplate.
