so the devilbiss mpv-623 is the same as the wilson Dmak??

sorry for more air fed mask questions,but it looks like the 2 masks are exactly the same including the regulator.

any one have any experience with the wilson masks?

I've got one of the Willsons. It uses the same carbon filter as the Devilbiss, and I think the filter holder is the same too (just a different colour).

The helmets themselves are different. The Willson one is quite basic and has an elasticated seal to the back of the neck. I think the Devilbiss uses foam inserts, which given the price difference I would expect to work better. Sealing to the head on the Willson is a bit basic. Shouldn't affect CFM - that's controlled by the restriction on the filter so they should be the same.

PS - they use a lot of air. I don't have a device for measuring CFM, but I'd guess 8-10CFM based on a 3hp compressor rating of 13CFM. Work well, and they keep you cool in the summer.

the devilbiss has both foam and elastic you can swap them over. According to the devilbiss manual it's minimum rating is 140 l/min which is about 5cfm and nominal cfm is 7 cfm-so my compressor will just about cope.
I can'nt find ratings for the wilson.

NO! Compressor air is bad for you.

You need to filter it first. It's full of oil and water. The water gives you pneumonia and the oil gives you some other nasty that I can't remember. It wants filtering.

The carbon filters on the masks are described as odour filters and ought to block incoming nasties well, but they are a very fine filter and you'll need a couple of courser filters before them to protect them else they'd not last a minute.
