Soil stack strap boss leaking.

You might not be able to see in the photo, but the white pipe entering the stack has a drip on the edge of the rubber boss.

The pipe is probably 5 years or so old, so fairly new.

No silicone etc was used on assembly - was that the problem?

The terminal was solvent welded, and that is not leaning at all. It's just from the rubber.

And, more to the point, what to do about it? Take it apart, fit a new rubber, and then some sort of gunk also?

tek 7 ,, the black one , sorts most things out , is it indoors , under a floor , or outside

take it out and try a new rubber seal in. a bit of washing up liquid on it will make it slip in easy

They don't like sealing well if the waste pipe going in is not 90 degree to the soil pipe..new seal as sparky has said will cure it

as @brightspark said take apart and washing up or siliclone spray i think is the right stuff on all rubbers

should there not be a degree of a slope ? i thought all pipes have a x angle to lenth slope or the water does not run free and if there is any carp in the water it settles in the pipe ?

theres a slight slope up from the boss ..the pipe should follow the same angle to be square in the hole

From the picture it looks like the angle of the pipe is too great for the rubber to accommodate, as Brightspark says there is an angle already built into the plastic boss which is very slight (I guess it has been fitted the right way up) I would check that the pipe was fully inserted and try and lessen the angle, I doubt the rubber has been damaged so would reuse it but they are not expensive to buy.

access looks poor, maybe try to warm the white pipe and "adjust" the angle of entry,,,,,, that's the bodger in me again!

Did the job last night.

Replaced the rubber bit. Cleaned everything up, and slathered the whole thing with that fernox LX whatever it's called for reassembly.

I reckon the issue is that the white pipe is slightly tensioned (I mean hardly at all) and that the force has slightly crushed up the rubber.

This is clutching at straws and all that...

Anyway, the whole lot is coated in the fernox stuff, which I've never used before, but seems to get good reviews, and it's not leaking this morning.

It's not a good install, but, again, it is what it is, and, if the situation is resolved for at least a good few years, that's good enough for me at the moment.

If there's tension on the pipe a strategically placed packer should take the tension off the rubber, obviously I've never used such bodges.
