an acid flux is best on steel
Ronan I use everflux, never fails. https://www.bes.co.uk/everflux-sold...MI6tS2hZq34gIV5zXTCh29DgcAEAAYASAAEgI2b_D_BwE

Will that work with steel though Bob ?
Yes Ronan I use it on everything, clean all surfaces , completely cover surfaces to be soldered with flux, go very gentle with the heat or it will burn , feed in the solder and don't forget to wash off everything thoroughly when finished . Its my go to flux when steel brackets become detached on brass radiators

Smashing, i'll get some of that then.
