The mirrorspeed, vodex, vohees, zodian universal and all 6013s. They weld quite differently but all 6013s.
The Fortex is a 7018 (I think). I know Fortrex but the 35A is throwing me (does it say more on the label BS639 ???).
The ShieldArc 85 are cellulosic for high strength pipe welding
The Celtian are cellulosic (Murex version of Fleetweld 5P)
The Tensitrode are Low Hys for high strength steel
Rods wrapped in kraft paper like that. Id guess at least 25 years old
It might be that the manufacturer would like to buy them from you. The Murex and Phillips (Vohees) are now ESAB. The ShieldArc could be Lincoln or Esab depending on where they were made. If its Welwyn Garden City its Esab.
The I-Groove ive never heard of but I guess they are for grooving (gouging) and cutting
Ive never heard of Extruded Welding Wires of East Kilbride. There used to be a Phillips factory up there and there is another lot called WB Alloys.....might be related.
Thanks TechnicAl, I find the old rods and packaging quite interesting as they are something I guess no one would collect. Managed to borrow a Rockweld book that was printed in the '50's and is very interesting.
Will get some more pics up next time I'm searching for rods, there's a few to go yet !
Cheers Chris.
A couple of friends of mine did the technical stuff for Rockweld, unfortunately one of them died a few years ago but the other is going strong heading up for 80 years old. Are there any names in the Rokweld book?
Hello TechnicAl, have read through the Rockweld book from cover to cover and there is no mention of any names or author or even a date. Just says in the back "Printed in England 30M 55"
In the back it shows a picture of one of those nice Perkins P6 engine driven DC welders , always wanted one of those then I could replace my 4 cyl Ford engined Lincoln.
Cheers Chris.
