Something that resembles a fern ...

After a week of resting my back I decided to get back in the garage/workshop yesterday. As mentioned in my Crab thread I wanted to try a Fern sculpture, and I had idea I wanted to test out.
I will start by saying I did not want to make something that looked just like a fern, but more the impression of a fern.









I was quite pleased with it.
MrsG not so much ... she wants something that looks more real, or more abstract

BTW back is killing me today, should have stopped sooner yesterday

How about something along same lines as you've done but introduce the 3D in the way ch4 do their logo adverts? Abstract?

Damn! You've just set me thinking again ... maybe not for this but for something else

So I spent an hour bashing it about a bit. And rewelding the bit that fell off ...
Tricky to get a nice curve forwards at the top (the whole thing was already curved backwards) so it's not smooth, future versions will have the rod bent to shape before adding the plates.
I think it looks more fern like now, and MrsG is happier with it too ... just need to make a few more.

A fern frond was my first thing as well the other week all scrap and bent by hand as was the obelisk do-dad with 'jingly rings' as my mates youngest called them...quite like that! Now invested in a metalcraft practical rbr £130 well spent (just seen the discount thread)
