All fully welded, scuzzed up with a 60 grit flap wheel and some etch primer slodged on. The underside got a coat of some black body slodge I found in the workshop and the side got a coat of satin black. It's far from pretty but that was never the aim. I still need to sort the rear wheel arches but they are not structural on these.

That's why my mate is going to put it on his lift in a few days. The MOT isn't until January (6th I think without checking), last year it was the body mounts that were the issue in that there was no structure outboard of them
My mate also takes it for the MOT and does have good standing with them. If it's marginal they will tell him but they don't extract the P

They wouldn't bother mine, 2005 wasn't canbus so potential bullet dodgedi don't think the mice that killed mine are that far travelled

Well predicted. The arches were an issue having been ok for the last 3 years.
I'm currently 2/3 of the way through the driver's side.
More tomorrow, don't expect pretty, it's structural not accurate ( not even close).

This was yesterday. Partly done. You will note that I have Stevie Wonder's eye for detail and Jed Clampett's finesse on this job.
The outer sections of the arches was gone. I have had to remake some of the brackets that the inner arch bolts to as well. There's no arch lip now.
As of finishing today.
That's had a coat of primer by brush (Stevie Wonder stylee) and tomorrow I can refit the inner arch and start on the other side.
This came out of the wheel arch. If I wanted to make something rust from the inside I would use a big sponge, guaranteed to stay wet for years.

Hmmm... Ford seem to make their rear wheel arch liners from shag pile carpet. If ever anything was designed to attract and not let go of moisture & mud!
