After the initial pleasure of having a Speedglas 9002X the head gear started to annoy me(It's cr@p) So a while ago I bought the head gear from an Esab (about £8-00) new from ebay, Finally got around to fitting it today and it totally transforms the feel and operation of the helmet,Should have done it long ago, All that was needed was to make the helmet square mounting holes circular and it fitted right in. Nice little detents keep it in the raised position and a little nod and down it comes,

I also have a speedglass and find that the headgear is poor do you have any pics of the modified helmet ? and do you have a link for the part you fitted Gordon ?

Just looked on ebay and don't see them at the moment, But look in Weldequips shop at the top of the home page, He keeps head gear for Esab, They look slightly different to the one I used but I'm sure they will fit quite easily

I don't honestly know which model esab. They were on ebay for a long time, The plastic the head gear is made from is orange, Don't know if anybody will recognise the model from the colour.

Esab Origo headband from Steve looks like a good mod I agree, I wouldn't use anything but my speedy but the headgear is miserable after a while, I had a new headset about six weeks ago and its goosed already, trouble is you keep tightening the side wheels up to adjust the slack out till in the end they just strip...... looks like some coin of the realm is coming to Steve....

Found the old ebay listing, It was called an Esab Alpha, the seller was walker Welding supplies near Newcastle, price £6-00 + a couple of quid postage, They may have more that are not listed, Good Luck,
