Speedglass 9000F battery

Hi all.
I've been practising a lot and the welds are getting much better but as above posts, I can't see the weld line too well. I have a Speedglass 9000F with a 10/3 lens, how do I remove the lens unit to clean the inside of the helmet glass and the lens as well? And although not required now, where is the battery?

Ok here we go: to take the filter out you take off the silver cover that's on the front of your mask, then you can take out the filter.....
Here are the 3 volt batteries, there's 2 of them:

When you do require replacement batteries get them from your local supermarket, in our case Morrisons. The part number is CR2032, dont get them from your local welding supplier as when we have tried they are usually about 3 times dearer in fact we were instructed by our local welding rep to get them from the supermarkets. They are the same batteries as used in most 'plips' (remote control/immobilzer) for cars

Hi Sparkey.

I've got it all apart, thanks. The filter glass inside that I look into is not too bad, scored a bit but okay I think, and the outer green glass on the filter is perfect, but the plastic cover is fogged a bit and scratched. Where can these be bought? I've been onto the Speedglass site but can't find any info on spares.

I found a scratch resistant outer glass on Ebay for £2.40 in total, hope that solves some of my problem.

That was a big help, I have part numbers for all I need in my helmet. I didn't think the inner glass was renewable too, thought it was a fixture of the filter element, how is that removed? It's held in at each corner by the filter and I see no way of getting it out, maybe not needed now but would be handy to know how.

If it helps anyone.....I bought 25 CR2032 batteries on Ebay from Hong Kong for £2 inc. postage!!! And they are OK..over here I used to pay 3 euros for one.

I now get all my rechargeable batteries from Hong Kong as well...just can't beat them for price :-))

To remove the inner cover plate just flex it so that it bows out in the middle and it pops straight out.

I have the filter here in front of me, it is the same one that Sparkey printed on his first post to me in this thread, and I'm still not too sure how to remove the inner glass shield shown, is it not made of glass?
I have the outer plastic front shield on order, that's easily removed.

No, no it's made of plastic, you should be able to get your nails under it quite easily...(checks on own helmet quickly.....) yep, that works! it's flexible like Gordon mentioned.

ps: maybe there's no inner shield installed on your helmet, did you buy it new or second hand?

Hi Sparkey,

Learning more each day! I fitted the new outer shield and removed the inner (Green) shield as per your instructions. I cleaned it all and under that shield was filthy! I got my new inner shield and it was clear so now not sure what to do??? I can see better after the cleaning but wonder if I need the green shaded shield, is it safe to try without it? My filter is 3/11, not sure what the shaded one is just now. The helmet was 2nd hand.

Right....need to check my helmet.....errrrrm yes the inner shield is clear like your new one...(lucky you i took my helmet home to clean it during the holls!)
Green eh?? we are talking about the small shield on the inside of the helmet right? the same side as where your on/off button is?

ps: maybe a stupid question but did they remove the plastic protection film off the shield??? that would explain the green color....
I'll have a looksy and see if i can put up some pics of my helmet....(both how to replace inner and outer shield and batteries....to be continued!
