Splatter around welds

Knocked up a quick clamp for a friend last night and seemed to have an issue with splatter around the welds, pics are of most of it knocked off! The welds for my standard look good, I tried adjusting wire speeds, I did feel better when the feed was to slow, I also found I was getting a lot of black soot on tack welds, nothing when running a long weld. I don't do a lot of welding so it back just be me, I switched to boc argon shield light ages ago and feel this strarted since then.

I woulda thought less spatter with argoshield light than universal, use spatter release spray prior to welding or a file after.

Your too hot on that corner joint and I suspect your wire is somewhere between spray and dip. Less power and more wire

I think when you reduced the wire it felt better because you were on the ragged edge of spray arc
Can do no more than guess here off what is shown which looks too hot on the bar - but might have been fine on the nut ( if you only got your wire right)

I would suggest you are travelling too slowly, did you weave at all

No weave, just a straight push along

+1 for Kent, my first thought was also up the wirespeed...and sometimes even a wrong torch angle can cause spatter...but yeah it's very difficult to guess from a pic!

i find its usually angle of torch more than anything for me

the welds look to me to high amp and wire feed..to much build up.
having the right amp and wire feed will rid some of the spatter but not all.
