I have some aluminium tig welding rods that I need to join together. Can I use our spot welder or is this a stupid thing to try? I know you can't weld sheet aluminium but wondered if it would work with 3.2mm rods.
What's the worst that could happen? The loss of a few cm of 3.2mm rod, if it doesn't work, and the possible contamination of the spot welding electrodes, which can be cleaned up with a file. Maybe contamination of the spot welded zone of the rods, but that could be filed off before use.
