Hi I have used the cheap and cheerful £12 air regulator's for my mini hvlp and devibiss GPI gun the ones you use at the gun not the compressor. I want something better ? Not a digital one just with the dial .
I have a regulator on my belt and it works great.
It means you can have higher pressure in the airlines and just reduce the pressure for the last meter of hose.
Also have a cheater valve to check the inlet pressure at the gun but just broke the gauge.
my thinking is that you're better off not fitting a regulator onto a spray gun as the regulators dont flow enough air (unless the spraygun has a very small air consumption)
and the restrictors don't give consistant pressures. as they will have a higher pressure to begin with due to the amount of air in the airline( and the regulator on the compressor is likely to be higher.
I'd just use a T piece with a pressure gauge and adjust the pressure on the regulator on the compressor. you can also use a gauge with a suitable pressure range too.

If you can find a gauge with a glass lens rather than a plastic one it would be better, as a plastic one will get a bit cloudy if cleaned with thinners repeatedly
