Spray gun problems

hi, I have a brand new Draper spray gun with 1.4 and 2 mm nozzles. I used it today for the first time, put the 2 mm nozzle in as I’m priming then high build primer. It’s a gravity fed gun, when I put the paint in the pot it comes straight out the nozzle ? Have taken it apart several times but cannot stop it. What am I doing wrong?
Any help on this would be great. Thanks

The needle will need adjusting to shut off the paint,

yeah try screwing in the needle control all the way and see what happens...although shouldnt leak with it wound out

is the needle /nozzle a compatible set?

It is the correct needle for gun, I checked. If I wind the needle screw all the way in the trigger can’t move is that normal ?

Have you got the matching fluid tip for the size of needle your using?

Yes if you wind the needle in too far you won't be able to pull the trigger

It has 2.0 stamped on both

There's a nut with a packing seal that the needle passes through between the trigger and the body.
If this is too tight it can prevent the needle returning and that will cause it to do what you're describing.
Loosen the nut a little

Not sure if this is the correct spraygun but the needle packing nut seems to be behind the nozzle. Is item 39 still in place as if it’s missing the needle may not be pushed far enough forward to seal.

Item 36 is usually a nut on all the guns I've ever used,never used a Draper mind

Item 36 isn’t the gland nut as that is 05 from the picture 36 is for setting needle travel with 40

What I'm saying is 36 is usually a nut with a seal in it,the needle passes through and if it's too tight the needle won't return.
If there's no nut on the Draper then that's not the problem

Ok I have the parts list, item 36 is the spray adjustment valve dial, and item 5 is air flow separating nut.

Yeh I've mis-read the diagram.
I've not seen a gun like that before

Does look a lot different to the conventional sprayguns and possibly the size of the slot in the side means it’s not possible to have a gland nut there and have located in the front behind the nozzle, but as you say may need slackening if it’s gripping the neeedle slightly

There are two needle sealing gaskets and a needle sealing nut, 2,3 and 4. Could it be that ?

when the gun is empty the tip of the needle should be visible in the fluid cap ,if not contents will leak.

I have just spoke to draper, it would appear that all their 2mm needles are incorrect so it won’t work properly.
