Spray paint extraction

I was planning on building a small extension off the side of the workshop this year for a spray booth but I got to thinking I have a wee lounge area that I put in which is nice but doesn't get used that much which I thought I could use as a spray booth. The room has doorways and a window but the window is screwed closed and the doorways would need to be closed when spray so I want to investigate economical (cheapish) ways to put in some form of an extraction system. I would prefer to extract through the wall rather than the roof as it is a flat roof.

Could you guys recommend ideas of how I could go about putting in a functional extraction system that won't cost the earth?

I haven't really got a good pic of the room but this is the best I have on my computer.

Even with extraction, I reckon you'll track no end of paint dust into the house if you use that room.

With regard to fans, an old 12V car radiator fan shifts a fair bit of air. So do most of the fans on decent dehumidifiers. I'd be looking at appropriating some of those. The rad fans can be had for peanuts from a scrappers. Add a chunky 12V transformer and a bridge rectifier and you're sorted.

It's not attached to my house. That's just the kitchen and toilet for the workshop. I'd want to seal that off and only intend on spraying in there and not sanding is my idea.

Posh git. That's probably bigger than some houses downstairs.

I'd just give it a go with various types of fan then. Size to air volume to cost, the rad fans are probably the best for experimenting with. It's just the PSU which is the problem there, as you'll usually be whacking a 30A or so fuse inline for each one to cater for the start-up surge. Running current is probably around 10A to 15A apiece.

You'll love this, I wasn't sure about my workshop when I first looked at it, it was my wife who convinced me I should get it. The lounge area was also my wife's idea, I'm actually not looking forward to telling her it will be a spray room.

Your kitchen will make a brilliant workshop, you've got some perfect reference tables for accurate marking and QC work, a water supply, extraction and most importantly a fridge

Sparks from a fan can be a issue when spraying some paints etc.

only if they go pop with a fault. in 45 years ive never seen one go with sparks -coming from one

A fan from an a/c duct works well but remember that you will need an inlet somewhere to let some air into the room. Also have you thought about a method of heating the room?

I have the extraction fan mounted in one corner of my spray booth. In the opposite corner I have a large hole big enough for the end of my diesel space heater, the main body of the heater sits outside so it draws in fresh air. There is enough space around the heater to let fresh air into the booth.

I have a wood stove but I thought for the inlet maybe a 3kw electric Sealey fan blower.
