Sprayable seam sealer?????

Hi guys,

ive just repaired a damaged section of my sill, however there is no access other than a few holes say 10 mm wide....

I need to seal the back of the weld but how do i do it if i cant get my hand in there???

Does sprayable seam sealer exist??? So i can put a PROBE IN and spray some sealer to prevent water ingress to the outside of the panel????

i used expanding foam after i renewed both my sills.

there are exterior foams that are water repellent,which is what i used,it will prevent water ingress and stop the new sill's from rotting from the inside.

I could never be sure a foam filler would expand into all the crevices so would tend to use one of the Wayoyl / Dinitrol type products as it "creeps" into cracks & seams.

i would agree and even if it did get everywhere there are holes in foam so not guaranteed water tight where as waxoyl will get in and doesnt set solid so allows for the flex of the car

I don't know if you ever had a hotpoint fridge freezer Kenny but the foam insulation on the underneath of them used to break down, quite often under guarantee the foam was always sodden with moisture and puddles used to be underneath them, just one reason I wouldn't foam inside of a sill.

Cant the oil in the waxoyl effect the paint finish on the other side?

I need to buy it tomorrow as the car needs to be on the road for saturday!!

no waxoyl is designed for that and works very well

Alfas were all recalled to have foam removed from their chassis members when they first came to UK as it held water although it was supposed to be water resistant. Waxoil should be fine but even if it's not treated it's going to be fit for the road and you can do it later.

I do hope you get the fun job or replacing them again when you will find out how bad the foam makes the replacement

I swear that the guy who owned a previous Monza was planning to make an amphibious car the ammount of foam was used in chassis sections and sills

Mind you he hadn't replaced the sills just filled with expanding foam and done a superb job skimming over the foam with filler and then stone chip guard and underseal

i will be well into retirement when they need replacing,they are made from 2mm plate done on a brake press,its easy to remove nowadays with solvents,so im not unduly worried.
