Sprayed water based paint drying time

hi guys, can anybody tell me if water based paint will dry without going in to booth.

if so how long would it take to dry in a heated workshop.

i will be spraying automotive waterbased paint.

you really need spec sheet of paint you intend to use.
dryying times will be on that.

Hi,

Water based paints will need some form of assistance to dry, ie:- heaters etc The difference between cellulose or water based is that cellulose based paints dry through evaporation so can be sprayed anywhere and left to dry, whereas water based paints need heat to effectively 'cure' the paint. The other point is that a water based base coat you will still need to put a coat of 2pack type lacquer on which unless you've got the correct equipment might be an issue from a health aspect.

So depending on what you are doing and the equipment you have available I would normally go for cellulose for a normal DIY'er......

water bourne paint need air movement to dry you can dry it with a blower stand well back and blow air across the panel heats no use with out air movement, it only skins the surface and seals in moisture
