First of all this is my first post on this great site, so a big hello , I've spent about a week or so reading all the great articles and threads and found some excellent info that's really going to help me with my projects.
I'm going to start a project thread about the Peugeot 205 CTI I've been working on but I've got a few quick questions regarding the respray I'm in the process of prepping for.
I've bought all the necessary 2k paint (2l base coat, 2l thinners, 5l 2k lacquer, 2.5l hardeners) for the respray and I've just upgraded from my cheapy aldi compressor and tools to a 150l 3hp 14cfm compressor, moisture filter, half decent spray gun, 3M face mask and associated hoses etc.
I've got 2 questions at the moment (probably hundreds more to follow )
1) Whats the method for respraying a whole car in terms of panel/area order?ie spray engine bay first, then inside of boot, remove doors, spray inside of door, spray door shuts, refit doors, spray outer panels etc etc and
2) I've turned my carport into a spray booth, I've fitted plastic sheeting all around it and have lino on the floor to keep dust etc to a minimum. What is the realistic drying time going to be needed for the 2k paint? Is it worth borrowing some sort of heater to help the process? I've got a small 2k electric bar heater that i use in my shed but i wonder if that will be like holding a lighter in the middle of a football pitch and make no difference what so ever
