Spraying in a container

Hi I need some advise people please.
Iam thinking of renting out a container to store my tools and for spraying.

Has anyone had any experience of spraying in one?
I was thinking of adding some extractor fans
having loads of lights along the sides and the top.
The only down side I can think of is the width of them.
Will be a tight squeeze to do quarter pannels but should be able to if I swing it in to the sides at an angle.

I spray with 2k. Got all the safety equipment.
So any advice would be great.

the compressor would drive you mad the noise would bounce back and forth of the walls would be very narrow could you hold gun far enough away and dripping condensation

Space shouldnt be too bad, a bit of a squeeze but if it's not permanent then it should be fine. As you say - extractor fans, you might want to consider a fan pumping in clean air.

if you do have a fan pumping air in make sure the air is filtered in otherwise the finish coud be like sandtex paint

Well just going to add my bit, DON'T BOTHER!!!!! I've been in a container trying to restore a 51 chevy pickup (body off chassis blah blah) I got thoroughly pee'd off after the first week, trying to cool it off in the summer is hopeless, and trying to warm it up in the winter is even worse, not to mention the condensation! and like you say, the width is fixed, unless you're going to do some serious cutting and shutting of the container then you're stuck with the size.

To be honest, you'd be better off building a large shed with 4 x 2 and shiplap.

I know I may sound negative, but this is only my experience.


Sorry forgot to mention, use any electric or air tool in it, and you'll be deaf withing half a day. I've now invested in some serious ear protection. Also the neighbours can hear to too!!!!!!

Shipping container + restore/weld/spray vehicles = waste of time and serious damage to health, both physical and mental!

Just another aside issue, the one I'm using is a rented one, they ain't too happy if you want to cut holes in it for fans and the like, so beware!!!!!

Great for locking your tools and spare parts in, rubbish for working in.

Build a big shed or a garage to do the resto in, if planning is a problem just build it in easily disasemblable sections.
