Stahlwerk plasma cutter

Was just looking on the bay and spotted these, looking for opinions, never had one before and looking to it as a future purchase

A 5 year warranty eh, for 300 quid
That's 2 years more than the Rolls of Plasma Cutters...costing 4X as much!
Could be wrong, but I think you may find the supplier has vanished long before the "warranty" is up

Buy one and use it. If it breaks Plasmapart do a repair service for generic Chinese welders and plasma cutters.

Save up some more and get one that you can readily obtain spares & repairs for.
There's a constant sale on at DFS ... and also plenty of leading brand stuff that is fully supported with after-sales.

Steve you are such a sceptic, why on earth wouldnt you believe a 5 year warranty is not a good deal, what would make you think they wouldnt be around for the 5 years. I am sure everybody on all of these online auction sites and other websites are only of the highest standard and are completely trustworthy, surely....

stahlwerk-welding gear its rubbish bought a plasmer cutter of flea bay and it packed up
after five minutes they did send a courier that took a week then theyb said its been sent to hungary
for repair and would be 8 weeks maybe longer avoid them they are trading cheap chineese rubbish
and pretending its german quality

Seems you have quite the vendetta against Stahlwerk as a result of one dodgy unit. This could happen with any brand robsky.. ESAB, Lincoln, ewm, miller.. pick a name brand out of a hat and I guarantee this exact situation will have happened more than once or twice.

Its common knowledge that they are chinese made, which doesn't mean they're crap.. Just cheaper than something made in the UK/Germany for instance.

All I'm saying is.. Don't slate them because of one dodgy machine that'll take a while to fix. Yes, they could just send a replacement machine rather than it being fixed which would be good customer service but maybe its different in Germany..

Was the original machine sent from Germany?, if so then that's where it has to be returned to.

You did not however have to accept the repair, if you had opened a case for item not as described you would have been issued with a pre paid postage label and had a full refund.

If the machine did break within 5 mins then it is certainly not as described, the description would claim it would cut steel and that one would not.

I bought an MMA and that broke within 5 mins also, a quick phone call resulted in full apologies and the replacement machine was delivered within 18 hours, that's because I did not buy from ebay, I bought from the UK and from a supplier who had already proven excellent customer service.

Still got and working well, 2 years after it's 2 year warranty ended

Stahlwork seem to have been around for a while and I talked to a friend about them. He then bought a plasma off them and is happy.

Is there a need to repeat the idea that Chinese is OK if the Euopean importer demands decent quality control? All your i-phones are made there.

Just noticed that this thread dates from '13. They are still trading and I will get my next bit of kit from them.

Huh! Nor do I, mainly because I don't need the features and I dislike the their business model. I just used them as an example of products that work and are made in China.
