Stanley electric stapler

About 3 years ago someone got me a stanley TRE550 240v stapler for Christmas, I have used it about 5 times and it is useless compared to my hand powered arrow one, the power settings seem to make no difference and it can hardly put a 1/4" staple in half way into mdf or soft wood, Have i just got a duff one or are they all crap?

I’ve wasted money on two, thinking the first one was dodgy

Stick to the hand stapler, or like me if you need a better one invest in air stapler

Yes i think an air stapler might be the best way, I will send this one to a guy i know that takes things apart and uses the bits for other projects lol

I've had fairly good results from my electric Tacwise.

No, stanley staplers are definitely carp. I reupholstered a little chair for a neighbour just before lockdown, and every single staple had to be ‘helped’ in place using a hammer.

A number of years ago I owned a cheap electric stapler from Aldi or Lidl, and it worked great. But the stanley is a waste of time, IMHO.

Having used a hand stapler, I can tell you my wee hands got sore halfway through an armchair I re-covered, after my Aldi/Lidl stapler died, then I bought the stanley stapler.

I’ve been considering buying an air stapler too, nothing fancy, but one that when you staple something, it has a chance of staying stapled.

If you have a compressor I recommend the Aldi Lidl stapelers when on sale

I’ve done 8 dinning room chairs covered in leather. Worked a treat

Plus 1 for the Lidl air one, they work very well. Mine will punch in 40mm staples no trouble. Problem is, my son “borrowed it” yesterday I wonder when (if) I get it back again. They use number 90 staples if you need to buy any, although mine will work with 91’s. Best place I found to get them was Toolstation, only thing was it was a box of 10,000, still they were cheap enough.
