Got a decent deal at a car boot last week. Telwin buzzbox as new totally unmarked (not too bothered about that but it might come in handy), leather apron and gauntlets, 4 x magnetic clamps, set of self-grip clamps, 5kg pack of 2.5mm Draper Super 6 E6013 sticks ( only 4 used) and a boxed Starparts V1 Plus auto helmet and pack of outer lenses. All that for £80 from private seller and used for one job. The helmet mainly interests me. I haven't used it in anger yet but it's darkening instantly with the sparks from a lighter. Seems to sell online for about £50. Any known problems with this helmet?

I may be wrong but, from what I have read over the last few days, I think that sounds normal.
If you spark a lighter it creates a fairly bright flash, bright enough to briefly illuminate a dark room.
If your mask can detect the flash from a lighter then I guess a welding arc would definitely set it off.
May suck if you are trying to weld at a cigarette convention though.

My new mobile also makes mine flicker. Ideal when its noisy and i can't hear it ring!
