Anyone seen the statue of WW1 soldier that has been in the media made from scrap. Excellent stuff.

It was featured on ITV's evening news programme. Amazing work, but it's not yet been announced who commissioned it or where it will ultimately be sited.

On The local news here it got a lot of coverage.
Some one donated their family local regiment cap badge to be included.
I think that is a fantastic thing

looks like the same tiles as on dads bungalow,he built it(himself physically) back in the 50s, they are concrete.

oh! I was looking at the ones on the right not the shed on the left, by the thickness I think concrete same as dads but could well be wrong, thats certainly not unknown,

him being the statue the old barn ish type roof looks like it was built on a rubber boat on a rough sea.

There is something particularly poignant about this statue, maybe the predominant use of scrap metal and the industrial process to produce it being a tactile symbol of the transition of this war from man and horsepower to the mechanised and industrial destruction of men in battle?
