Morning,
Does anyone know where it would be possible to pick up small amounts of steel from in the Peterborough area. I'm hoping to get started on a new hobby mig welding in the near future and just wanted some to practice on and hopefully go on to make some small items.

Don’t know your area at all, but if there is a steel fabricator or sheet metal type of business nearby, go in have a word taking some teabags or a bag of doughnuts & ask if you can root through the scrap. Recently I wanted some rebar, I went into the local place to buy a couple of lengths & was asked if I could use their scrap bits, it saved them getting rid of it.

Outside of production engineering, an awful lot of stuff revolves around scrap bins.
Know your objective, and hunt it with skill and determination.....

I have loads of steel lying around, lots of new off cuts and also lots that has been removed from jobs so if anyone wants to come by or has a particular need just ask. Took over two tonnes to scrap yard last week….
