Wanting to replace the beyond repair steering box and worn ball joints on my '31 Model A, and eliminate the problems with the original setup at the same time.
The original balls are forged in with the steering arms with adjustable rod ends.
So I fitted a series 3 LandRover steering box and drop arm, with the LR drag link, the aftermarket steering arm on the hub end had a 10 degree taper so the ball joint didn't fit.
As I always thought there were only 7 deg and 10 deg ball joint tapers I bought a 7 deg cheapie reamer off ebay, sold for doing steering ball joints.
Reamed the hole out and you guessed it the LR ball joint doesn't fit the taper!
Used an on line calculator to work out the taper in the drop arm and it throws up this.
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!
