Stick welding and porosity

Evening guys. .
I have a small problem. Been making some bits and pieces. .ran out of gas so had to use the stick..problem being is the start of the welding is like a small snake then it disappears and runs smoothly. .don't normally have this problem but it's starting to really annoy me now..what am I doing wrong.

Draw the arc off the material by about 1/2-3/4" and let the arc warm up the material before pushing in and starting the weld, or turn up the juice and then travel faster to get the start better but you may struggle to control the heat.

A slag trap. It's not porosity.

You are setting off a bit quick and not giving the weld time to fuse to each side.

Fill the crater in at the end too

I also start the rod off on a scrap plate bolted to the return clamp then transfer to the job.instant strike up every time
