Stick welding with rtech 201

Afternoon everyone im after a little help if anyone can.
Ive finally got around to trying out my rtech tig 201 and thought i would try the mma side first, got it all connected up, turned it on.
Amps jumped straight to 89amps and the dial does nothing to change it. Even if i turn the amos all the way down then switch it on the amps stay at 89.
Ive contacted rtech to see if they can help but thought i would try here aswell with it being the weekend.

Amps dial is set to lowest it can be and still reading 88.2amps

Does the same thing happen on the TIG setting?

Try turning the Base current and Pulse current knobs to around half way and see if it's possible to get an arc. If it arcs up OK, t could be that the ammeter display has gone up the creek.

It works when i put it on tig can set amps to whatever i want.
Also it does arc up and work just wont change the amps.

So ive just checked and it does change the amps when turning the dial, it just doesnt change on the display.
But if i switch to tig the display works fine.

The amps dont change when welding either just displays 88.2-88.9 as it changes slightly

If i turn the dial while im welding it is actually changing the welding amps, but the display doesnt change so no idea what amps its actually welding at.

It's an R tech thing. I presume it saves something at manufacturing. I have the 180 mig and just do it by feel - no real worries. MMA - just amperage so you wonder, if everyone else can do it......
TIG - has some precise timings, which I assume do show while adjusting?
Be interested to know though.

Why have you got the Arc Force turned up to maximum ? Turn it down to zero and turn the Base Current (which is set to zero) upto what ever the setting you want for your job.
Arc force is used for easier starting when the rods sticking.

Ive played around with the settings to see if it was something i had missed, but no matter what i do with the dials the display always stays around 88amps. Even though it is changing the what amps it actually is

From the videos ive watched on youtube on doubleboost reviewing this welder the displayed amps should change when turning the dial but at theinute that doesnt happen.

Nope doesnt do anything tried that. If i turn all the dials to zero the display still says 88.2amps and if i try to arc up barely anything happens so it is actually changing the amps, just not telling what its changing to if you get what i mean

You should ring them up and get it returned then, I had a problem with mine and had to return it. It was quickly fixed and sent back to me.

Have you tried welding using the AC function yet??
