Stihl HS45 workshop manual. 34mm bore.

Hi, anyone got access to the workshop manual or knows for sure what the max piston ring end gap should be . Even better a link to a free download that includes the engine. I’m measuring 15thou .

Usual rule of thumb, around 4thou per inch of bore….so that would be 0.1 mm per 25mm….I’d say around 6 thou should be about right…

I have the parts book, manual and tech book.

Unfortunately it’s isn’t mentioned. The tech book just gives ‘engine removal and installation’

Are listing new piston rings (item 10 for £3.50 +PP +vat) as In Stock, so why bother just order new.

Not sure how item 15 can be a Tube of Red Ht Sealer, but it is supplied by Stihl, so they must know best....

Thanks for replies. Got shop manuals from the States, but they don’t have info on acceptable ring / bore wear. Suggested to owner a new barrel and piston together with new crankshaft seals. Considering the machine‘s age and general condition , I think that he’s more likely to buy new.
