My brother bought a Stihl electric Hedge Trimmer last year, he is a gardener and likes it for small jobs (he has a proper big Husky Petrol for bigger jobs).
So after less than a year it stopped working, I stripped it down.
To find that bits of damp leaves had pushed past the cover over the drive and bearings.
One bearing was totally seized, the other partially. So I measured them up and ordered up a couple of food grade stainless bearings to replace the no brand steel ones fitted from Simply Bearings.
Gave all the gear train and new bearings a coat of marine grease.
and reassembled with new stick on seals at the case joins:
Fingers crossed they will last better than the 9 months the originals did.
It was £180 for a kit with 2 batteries and a charger so not professional kit, though I expected better from Stihl.
