Still getting water at the end!!!!

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with this please?

I have an ABAC 150l 3hp. Right. From the tank it goes like this: Screwed onto the tank is a Clarke filter/regulator, then 8ft rubber hose, leading into water trap/oiler (no oil ever been put in this), leading directly into ANOTHER water Clarke water trap.....10m air line, terminating with one of those small inline water traps right at the end...plugs directly into the tool.

BUT IM STILL GETTING WATER OUT THE ******** END!!!!!!!!!!

Why is this? 4 water traps and still water!!!!

Any help appreciated.

Water traps cannot totally remove all moisture from the air, for that a dryer is needed.
How much water is appearing in the traps and how much water is coming from the end of the hose ?

Daily and sometimes twice.

Not a great deal of water out of the traps...short spray and thats it. probably a saucer full out the tank. It seems to be more of a problem with heavier usage although it's not running al day etc. Just seems to be the odd little jet from the end on the odd occasion...then it's fine other times.

Could it be over heating? The tank was warm the other day, and the air when drained fromthe trap seemed a little warm too.

We recently had a similar problem. Our compressor is used for spraying and running a Plasma.
It has a water trap that is regularly emptied. Noticed we were getting droplets of water out of the spray gun, although the Plasma seemed unaffected.
I tipped the tank up into the drain the other day... Brown sludgy water poured out for ages - must have been a good 10 litres in there. Made all the difference though! No more water droplets!

I cant fathom my problem out. It's so random!! Can go for a few hours with no water then bam!! Just when you dont want it!!

I've always drained the tank daily.

are u using long thin lines coiled up . that doesnt help as moisture builds up in the roll then ejecs all the water out at once . keep lines strait. i have seperator on my tank and one at end of line when using a lot of air the end seperator builds up with water the piddly little 1/4 bore seperators are useless use the 1/2inch ones

the water filters work by condensing the moisture in the in the trap after the compressor has been running a good while, when a trap / filter is mounted very close to the compressor it tends to get warm from the warm air comming from the compressor and then stops condensing so your best bet is to remove the filter from the compressor and install as far away as you can so it stays cooler

using the tank drain plug doesn't drain the tank fully, youre better running the presure down to zero, remove the end plug and tip the compressor up until nothing comes out,

i found the drain plugs arent that effective so i use the above once a week and the drain plug daily, this has stoped any water in the lines or at the traps.

I had a 3.5hp compressor that had lots of water.

The cheaper ones that that every thing connects to one port on the tank will have real problems. My new one has port on the rear that the compressor feeds and an output port on the front. That allows the air to cool before it exits the tank.

Adding a cooler to the lines will help. I plan on replacing the copper tube from the pump to the tank with a large coil to further cool the air. Then it will condense in the tank.

I drain mine about once every 3 months. Usually about a quart or so. Does not get much use.

Long hoses can be a problem, in use the air cools the hose then moisture condenses on the inside after use leaving water which will be blown out in next use.

Sorry to jump in a bit late on this post. ...

Much of this has been said, but I would drain the tank first off.

The recent hot weather may be causing the air to condense.

Get some decent filters (5 micron elements). The Clarkes are not very good.

A cheap refrigeration/dryer method is to put your hose in a cold bucket of water then put it back on and run it. Just trying to cool that hot air!

Cheers for that. Any recommendations for those 5 micron elements?

Its Boils law, you will get more moisture content within the drawn air during hotter weather. As it cools the water vapour condenses into droplets. If you have a number of hoses connected with stop ends take them off and leave the hoses open of a night so they can drain.

It wont get rid of all the moisture but will help.
