I have a few days in the workshop next week, I'm acting as house husband while the missus is on a course so between dropping the blighters off at school and picking them up I have a few hours. I have bits of tractor to paint and a polytunnel to put up but I was hoping to make a major PITA in the office go away.
The main problem I have is a pile of box and angle on the floor, apart from being in the way, I can't see what I have. It great have stock to hand but its gets in the way too much.
So the plan is to make a free-standing rack to take stock up to 4m long. I was thinking of 3 or 4 A frames made from 25 or 50mm sq box, so shorter lengths could be racked too. Possible with a hinge at the top of the A to allow for them to be folded up if not needed (optional) and bolted together with 25mm box, again so it be dismantled for storage.
The A frames could take stock on both sides, probably with horizontal bars welded or adjustable for the stock to rest on.
I have some low profile castors with locking that I could use too. They take about 200kg each, quite small but I don't intend to be moving this much but may be useful.
I had a quick search on here for "stock rack" and "stock stand", I'm probably searching for the wrong thing. I didn't find owt, as I'm still in the early design stage, if there are any examples out there or comments on design that would be useful.
Cheers
Andy
