Straight pipe gone wrong

Hello! Not sure if this is the right place, but I didn’t know where else to go. A friend and I decided we can do
my straight pipe ourselves, but after we finished, we realized that the pipe we welded at the end sits too low and is hitting the rear axle. I went to a mechanic to see if he could fix it, but he said the whole thing would need to be redone. My question is: is it possible to fix this without redoing the entire exhaust?

Run them out in front of the back wheels?

Cut and weld the rear axle a few inches back.
