I have two <proud> The one in the OP is probably a mid 1990's, ex MOD one.

My second one is mid 1940's!

I have to say, having used a Swindens now for a few weeks, any other vice just won't do. It's incredibly handy to be able to reposition a workpiece - without having to take it out from the jaws.

Oh hang on, just realised what you are saying. So you got sent a seized Swindon's for repair?

Looks like it's been dropped (like mine) breaking off the rear cap retainer.

The one in the OP is probably a mid 1990's, ex MOD one.

Possibly not even that old. The screw in inserts are the latest design, so that could be quite new.

Any chance of a photo of the nut assembly on that one?

They are brilliant tools. I love mine. Both of 'em

The castings are horrendous though. Look at the asymmetry on that one. I've seen some proper horror stories on mine, irregular jaw holes, steps in the jaw faces etc. they must really crank them out for the MoD contract....
