T12/Ryobi 18v Battery soldering station

Next project is to convert this 240v Ryobi 18v One Plus charger to a battery powered soldering station.



I've cut the old main lead off and will be fitting kettle socket. Next up is isolating the battery terminals from the PCB, I dont want to take then off the board, so I'll strip the track around them.



They'll be rerouted to a switch, so I can either;
Run from Battery
Run from Mains (all be it at 18V 3a not 24V 4a
Charge the battery

I've some little black brackets somewhere.... goes off to have a root

Nice one.

But do not forget a uvlo. Got also one of these things and often forget to power it down. Use 6s rc lipo packs to get it everywhere.
Very handy.

Socket fitted, where the original cable entered. I had to remove the gland surround, just suck it on the belt sander

Had to bend the terminals over to clear the fixing support.

Next up is the reuse of a cable restainer, and a [dare I say it a brand new] 15mm P-Clip, for an iron suppport

In the settings on my T12 you can set it to switch off when the input voltage reaches a preset level.

I guess that is what you call a uvlo?

Little bit more done. (I had the jab yesterday, not moved off the sofa all day)

Used a burr to remove the track, and a brass wheel to uncover more. Well impressed with the t12, a blip of turbo to 350c and they melted in a couple of seconds.

Don’t know about your soldering station but mine draws a lot power also in standby or sleep mode. If your battery got under voltage cut out than it is no issue. If not and you unfortunately forgot to switch off than it possible drains your battery.
